Compass FAQ

Q. Will the current school mobile app continue to work in Term 4?
A. No, the current GRG school app will be turned off and replaced with Compass. This is to ensure any attendance notes are not submitted to the wrong system.

Q. What happens if I forget to submit an attendance note when my child is away from school?
A. If your child is marked absent from school and you haven’t submitted an attendance note, you will receive an automated SMS at 10:00am to remind you to submit an attendance note.

Q. Will I continue to get a confirmation when I submit an attendance note?
A. You will no longer receive a confirmation message each time you submit an attendance note. The Compass app is secure, and you should not share your login details with your child or any other parent.

Q. What happens if I forget to give consent to an event in Compass?
A. One of our admin staff will follow up with you closer to the event date to confirm your child’s attendance. Reminders will also be sent out via Compass.

Q. Can I still give consent to an event in Term 4 via Operoo?
A. No, Operoo will no longer be used from Term 4 onwards. All consent for new events will need to be given via Compass.

Q. I gave consent already for an event. Will I need to give consent again?
A. No, you won’t need to give consent again in Term 4 for an event you have already responded to via Operoo.

Q. Can I still access the Parent Portal once Compass is live?
A. Yes, the current Parent Portal will still be accessible. Academic reports for 2025 will still need to be accessed through the Parent Portal.

Q. How can I find the link to the Parent Portal if the GRG school app is no longer accessible?
A. The Compass web portal and Compass mobile app will have a shortcut to the Parent Portal under the school favourites section.

Q. How do I pay my school fees in Term 4 this year?
A. School fees can be paid as normal for the remainder of 2025. They will change over to Compass in 2026, and more information will be sent to all parents in the new year.

Q. How do I access my child’s academic reports for 2025?
A. They will be accessed via the same process in the current Parent Portal.

Q. Will my username and password change for the Parent Portal?
A. No, you can continue to use the same credentials as you have been using.

Q. Can I use my Compass username and password for the Parent Portal?
A. No, they are separate systems.

Q. What if I forget my login details to Compass?
A. Parents can reset their passwords via the Compass web portal or Compass app. If you still cannot log in, please contact the school at compass@grg.nsw.edu.au

Q. When can I order from the canteen with Compass?
A. This will be available at the start of Term 1 in 2026.

Q. When can I order school uniforms from Compass?
A. This will be available at the start of Term 1 in 2026.

Q. Can my child access my Compass portal?
A. No, students will have their own login for Compass. It’s strongly advised that you do not share your Compass login details with your children.

Q. What happens if my child is late to school in Term 4?
A. You can submit an attendance note via Compass if your child will be late, otherwise they will be able to sign in late when they arrive at the main admin or lower admin offices. The process remains the same.

Q. What happens if my child needs to leave school early?
A. You can submit an attendance note via Compass. The process remains the same.

Q. How will the school communicate information to me?
A. The school will use a combination of the Compass newsfeed, emails, SMS and phone calls to communicate with parents.
